Sarath and Sneha to team up for first time
Actor Sarath Kumar has enjoyed the maximum box office hits in dual roles. His movies Nattamai and Suriyavamasam where he played the roles of father and son have been well received. While these were emotional family dramas, his recently launched film Vidiyal is a totally different fare. Set in the pre-independent era, the story shifts to the 1970s and moves onto 2010. Vidiyal features Sarath in a dual role and it revolves around the life of a freedom fighter. Sneha had declined a role opposite Sarath in Jaggubhai( Failure movie ), but in Vidiyal she plays his love interest in a powerful role. Shruthi is the other heroine. The movie is directed by KR Selvaraj, an office bearer of Nadigar Sangham and has music by Dhina. Produced by Nalini Sundarraman, it is co-produced by Sarath’s new banner RRR, which was also launched at the event. He plans to launch at least three films a year and encourage fresh talent with his new production house. “I want to try out innovative themes under my new banner. Good films can be made even in budgets ranging from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 3.5 crore by using new techniques.” He believes films should be made and marketed on the saleability of an actor. This will not hinder his political career, he says, “Though I am busy with half a dozen films in Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil, my political journey will continue”.
