Hail the Malaysian queen of jazz, Datuk Sheila Majid! She's celebrating her 25th anniversary in showbiz this year and planning a slew of exciting surprises for her fans, beginning with a new single, Dengarkanlah.
A feel good song, Dengarkanlah is penned by her hubby, Acis (formerly of pop band Gersang), with lyrics written by Sheila herself.
"It's inspired by my fans who have been supporting me all these years," the 45-year-old tells The Daily Chilli exclusively.
"It's a love song. You can apply it to love between people and love between a human and God," she says between shooting her music video with gifted film director, Dain Iskandar Said (of controversial horrror film, Dukun).
"We're releasing the single and the music video on March 31," enthuses Sheila.
Aside from the new single, Sheila will also be releasing a collector's box set CDs, comprising all her seven hit albums, including our all-time favourite, Emosi and Warna.
"There have been a lot of requests for my back catalogue," she says. "So I've asked my former record label (Warner) to reprint them just for this year."
"We're looking at pricing them slightly over RM50, so that my younger listeners could afford them."
The consistenly good performer is also planning a series of anniversary concerts in Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia.
