Deepika follows Bebo’s footsteps

After Kareena Kapoor came forward to support a village and set up a solar energy plant for Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh, it is now the turn of actress Deepika Padukone to do the same. She has adopted a village called Ambegaon in Maharashtra as part of a campaign by a television show. Deepika will provide monetary support and help in raising funds that can be used for the betterment of the village.

“Deepika volunteered to adopt the village when she learnt that the remote village had no electricity at all. She wants to ensure that all the basic needs of the villagers are taken care of. Apart from amenities like water supply and electricity, she is also looking at developing the village’s educational system and medical facilities. She has already given her word and has sent the campaign organisers the required monetary funds.”
