Lighting up the runway
Angie Ng may be only 23, but she has definitely achieved a lot more than others her age - she is the first Malaysian model to have modelled for superstar Lady Gaga’s designer Marko Mitanovski.
Not only that, she has worn the same corsette that Lady Gaga wore for her Monsterball Tour.
Hailing from Penang, Ng is also one with the brains. She recently graduated with a law degree from the University of Reading.
Ng said she started modeling when she was 18.
“I was actually spotted by designer Michael Ong at a mall in Penang. He then introduced me to the relevant people and everything else is history,” she said yesterday at the STYLO Gaga Fashion Party at Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur, which was packed to the brim.
On how she met Mitanovski, Ng said Mitanovski’s team had looked her up from her agency in London. She had also done a campaign shoot for Mitanovski.
“They saw my profile and I guess they liked what they saw and there I was, modeling for Marko,” said the lanky lass who loves dancing.
Ng had earlier modeled for Mitanovski in London Fashion Week's “One’s to Watch” in 2009 and will be doing more work with him.
Ng is also the person that introduced Mitanovski to STYLO.
“I was talking to the STYLO people and coincidentally they mentioned that they needed a designer and immediately I recommended Marko. I knew he has a lot of potential the moment I saw his collections,” she said, adding that both she and Mitanovski are now very good friends and often hang out a lot.
Ng is here in Kuala Lumpur for the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix and will be modeling for Mitanovski’s show on April 2 at the Mercedes Benz STYLO Fashion Awards gala night.
She will be flying off to Hong Kong and then London after STYLO.
Daily Chilli and mStar are media partners of the fashion event.
