Based on its business license it is supposed to be selling health products, but people who go to the store would certainly find themselves being at the wrong place.
In fron of the shop is a plastic doll clad in bright red sexy lingerie along with posters of "Safety can be fun" and the illustrations of couples in sexual positions.
Instead of health supplements or health gadgets, there were erotic toys lwith names like Climax Combo and Thorn Dragon .
The shop, located at the third floor of Summit USJ shopping mall is one that retails sex gadgets.
The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) discovered after the probe recently that sex toys in all types, shapes, colours and sizes, with prices ranging from RM9.90 to a few hundred were being sold.
A 15-man MPSJ enforcement team charged into the store at 1.30pm Tuesday and seized sex toys worth more than RM20,000 from the premises.
Among them were sex dolls, vibrators, lubricants, condoms and many others far beyond imagination. Judging from the labels on the products, it seemed that they were mostly imported from China and Japan.
Officers from Home Affairs Ministry were also present during the raid.
The shop was sealed and according to MPSJ secretary Slamat Hamzah its owner or woners will be issued with compound of RM1,000.
Hours later, seven more such shops were also raided in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur later.
Up to 55 sex toys worth more than RM12,000 were seized in a raid operation carried out by a 90-member team, which consisted of police and officers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Home Ministry.
The team was divided into five groups to carry out the operation at the shops which scattered around Sungei Wang, Berjaya Times Square and Cheras Leisure Mall.
The sex toys were confiscated under Section 292 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum three-year jail term or a fine, or both.
“We do not condone the sale of items which are obscene and we will be revoking their licenses immediately,’’ said DBKL deputy director-general (services) Datuk Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz. who led the operation.
During one of the raids, a desperate shop owner tried to pass certain items off as neck massagers and even demonstrated it on Amin Nordin, but was in vain.
