Maya has no time for US ambassador

Chief minister Mayawati has so far no plan to meet US ambassador, Timothy J Roemer, arriving here on his maiden one-day visit on Tuesday. This is as per the official programme fixed for the CM’s day’s schedule for the day.

On the other hand, the appointments of US ambassador include meeting with governor BL Joshi in the afternoon. He is also scheduled to visit Sonwa village which has been adopted for development works under the USAID (US Agency for International Development). He will return to Delhi on Wednesday after interacting with NGOs and students of Karamat Girls’ College. This is his third visit to any state after Karnataka and Bihar, where he had also interactions with their respective chief ministers.

Sources within the CM secretariat confirmed that the meeting could not be possible due to the chief minister’s pre-occupations. One of the reasons attributed to this was her day-long meeting fixed in advance with the BSP office-bearers and coordinators who have come here from different parts of the country in connection with the party’s rally.

Confirming this, a US embassy source in New Delhi said that the CM had sought exemption due to her over-busy programme in connection with the party rally.
